ABOUT

Revive Forests provides hope for a healthier world. Within three years of planting, we provide self-sustaining forests in urban and rural areas that are indigenous to our customers’ geographic location, irregardless of soil quality or health. The benefits of Revive Forests are numerous. Besides from impressive carbon exchange rates as compared to modern monocultural forests, Revive Forests can serve as: sound barriers, forest-scaped gardens with thoughtfully designed walking paths and relaxation areas, erosion and flood control systems, or even as a sanctioned wildlife sanctuaries.

We use the Miyawaki Method of afforestation which has “reverse engineered” the natural process that produces a self-sufficient and bio-diverse old-growth forest. We believe that afforestation is a very powerful tool to help change the trajectory of our world’s future environmentally.

The Perfect Solution

Using the Miyawaki method, we aim to re-purpose barren lands, to re-design yards filled with non-native plant species, and to re-kindle the human relationship with the natural environment… particularly in urban settings. We have little time to tend to the damage we have already done to the environment and need to act quickly.

Miyawaki Forests have numerous environmental benefits including carbon exchange for oxygen in the atmosphere, air purification, water filtration, anti-desertification, soil retention, flood prevention, biodiversity via providing habitats for birds and other forest animals, and water conservation. Non-native plant and animal species have caused a significant amount of damage to ecosystems around the world. Our forests will revitalize these lost habitats and bring back to life ecosystems that were once considered lost.

In addition to the numerous positive impacts that forests have on our environment, they also greatly impact our bodies and minds. Not only can they offer medicinal plants (which are threatened globally) a place to grow, they also reduce stress rates and generally improve the mental health of those who enjoy them.

About Revive

We first learned about the Miyawaki Method through Shubhendu Sharma’s TED Talk which was given in 2016. In the interest of spreading this revolutionary method globally, Professor Miyawaki and Shubhendu Sharma’s company Afforestt have made the Miyawaki Methodology open source. Since, several companies and many individuals around the world have joined the movement to afforest the world.

Our expertise in the Miyiwaki Method gained through hands-on experience, extensive study, and partnership with forestry and biology specialists from The University of Texas is what will allow us to provide the most environmentally responsible, truly native, robust, and regenerative Miyawaki forests possible.

Mission and Goals

Our mission is to improve urban life through the implementation of Urban Forests by consequentially providing cleaner air, carbon to oxygen exchange, air purification, flood prevention, and mental health benefits.

We believe in the power that nature and thoughtful design has on humanity and the improvement of urban infrastructure. We aim to re-kindle our relationship within nature in a way that sparks a mindset change on how we interact with and consume our world’s precious resources. We believe in the possibility for a cleaner and healthier environment for ourselves and for generations to come. We believe in organic and non industrial solutions to the environmental crisis and that it is possible to manipulate and grow and change the current economic, governmental, and social systems that we currently have in place inclusively.

Behind The Scenes

ELIZABETH AVIÑA - FOUNDER

Elizabeth has a strong passion for innovation, design and environmental health. She earned her degree from The University of Texas at Austin in Civil Engineering with a focus in Architectural Studies and Ground-Based Transportation. Her love for architecture, the power that a space has on its inhabitant and passion for the environment sparked her passion for eco design.

She currently works as a consultant for a Building Science firm in the Bay Area. Specializing in Building Science has opened her eyes to the realities of sustainability within the construction industry. She feels proud to be involved in the positive progress that is being made by building scientists and designers to reach achieve efficiency standards for buildings across North America.

Her dream is to implement environmentally positive and innovative designs and concepts into the infrastructure of our beloved cities. She believes in the power that everyone access to public transportation, nature, and a healthy natural environment has on improving quality of life, particularly in terms of mental health, community, and environmental sustainability. Her projects aim to improve the quality of life of not only the client but inclusively all other surrounding community members (including animals).
